PROMOTING SUSTAINABLE LIVING
Films have the power to delight, inspire and inform. They can make us laugh, make us cry or make us want to take a stand for something. EcoKights leverages the power of film to inspire audiences and raise a nation of ecologically conscious businesses, individuals and communities. Established in 2006, EcoKnights focuses on environmental education and awareness to motivate everyone to embrace sustainable living.
KUALA LUMPUR ECO FILM FESIVAL (KLEFF)
KLEFF, the country’s biggest environmental film festival, showcases both Malaysian and international films. The festival’s award-winning environmental films, interactive learning classrooms and creative clusters help put across the message that positive action needs to be taken today.
Film festivals devoted to a full spectrum of environmental topics did not exist in Malaysia until 2008, the inaugural year of the KLEFF. This once niche-interest festival has since expanded to one with 6,700 visitors (not inclusive of KLEFF roadshow participants) in 2013. The 6th KLEFF awards ceremony was held at Publika from 11-13 October 2013. 200 submissions encompassing feature films, documentaries, animations, short films and public service announcements were received.
KLEFF has come a long way and is set to be household name among environmental film makers. The festival will continue to deliver entertaining, educational, and action oriented activities and platforms for Malaysians who are keen to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle. The 7th KLEFF is scheduled to take place in October 2014.
