Impact-based foundation of Khazanah Nasional invites YB Maria Chin amongst other guest speakers to talk on their work and women empowerment in Malaysia.
Impact-based foundation, Yayasan Hasanah (“Hasanah”), organised it’s 12th ILMU Hasanah session entitled “Celebrating Women Overcoming Barriers of Discrimination” for International Women’s Day 2019 by featuring four local women speakers of various backgrounds. International Women’s Day is celebrated on 8th March every year to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. In conjunction of the international day, Hasanah organised a public talk where four speakers, namely; YB Maria Chin (Member of Parliament for Petaling Jaya), Chong Chye Neo (Director, Bursa Malaysia), Sumitra Visvanathan (Executive Director, Women’s Aid Orgnaisation) and Nadirah Zakariya (Photographer) to share their thoughts and the work they have done which contributed to women empowerment in the context of Malaysia. Hasanah’s Managing Director, Shahira Ahmed Bazari said, “We are proud to have these four strong women at our ILMU Hasanah for them to share their experiences, and we hope that their stories will inspire the audience especially the ladies to keep on pursuing what they believe in whether if it’s social change or even something that is personal.” ILMU Hasanah is a series of free knowledge events organised by Hasanah to enable cross sharing of information within the social sector. Since its introduction last year, Hasanah has carried out a total of twelve ILMU Hasanah sessions which covers various topics and areas.
