Yayasan Hasanah Awards Grants to 28 Civil Society Organisations to Strengthen Livelihoods and Well-being of Underserved Communities

SELANGOR, 26 March 2025 – Yayasan Hasanah (“Hasanah”), Malaysia’s leading impact-driven foundation, has awarded the Hasanah Special Grant (HSG) 2024 to 28 civil society organisations (CSOs) under its Community Development pillar. These grants will support initiatives that address poverty alleviation, gender equality, environmental sustainability, education, and economic resilience—aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The selected grantees will deploy an innovative, Community-Based Approach (CBA) model to uplift underserved communities by improving income security, health and well-being, education and skills development including Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and fostering community leadership and industry partnerships. By focusing on marginalised groups, these interventions create lasting impact and address multiple SDG targets. These interventions are projected to benefit 1,952 individuals and create 521 job opportunities.

“At Hasanah, we understand that every community faces unique challenges. There is no one-size-fits-all solution. That’s why we support organisations that listen to the voices of those they serve, co-creating solutions that reflect real needs and aspirations,” said Siti Kamariah Ahmad Subki, Trustee & Managing Director of Yayasan Hasanah. “These grants are more than financial aid—they are investments in resilience, dignity, and hope for communities to shape their own futures.”

Since its inception in 2015, Hasanah has collaborated with 674 partners, reaching 3.47 million people nationwide through initiatives in Education, Community Development, Environment, Arts & Public Spaces, and Knowledge. Supported by the Ministry of Finance, the Hasanah Special Grant (HSG) will continue to expand its reach, empowering more communities in need.

The 2024 grant recipients include organisations working with marginalized groups such as B40 communities, individuals recovering from drug addiction (Komited Malaysia), and parolees (Saora Industries). Others, like Good Shepherd Services, are tackling extreme poverty in regions like Tongod—one of Malaysia’s poorest districts. Additionally, outstanding projects such as The Forest Transformation Malaysia Earthworm are empowering Orang Asli communities in Pahang through diversified farming and eco-tourism, while Ana CB Enterprise is supporting B40 women in Baling, Kedah, by providing advanced sewing skills and business training, fostering economic independence. Meanwhile, Carsome Academy Sdn Bhd is preparing rural youth for employment in the automotive sector. These various projects exemplify Hasanah’s commitment to fostering resilience, economic empowerment, and sustainable community growth.
