Yayasan Hasanah Channels RM1.09 Million in Flood Relief, Strengthens Preparedness for Ongoing Northeast Monsoon

Kuala Lumpur, 10 December 2025 — Yayasan Hasanah (“Hasanah”), the impact-based foundation of Khazanah Nasional Berhad (“Khazanah”), has mobilised a total of RM1,096,874 in flood relief and recovery aid to communities affected by the Northeast Monsoon. Hasanah’s contribution is funded by Khazanah and supported by the Ministry of Finance (MOF), via the GLC Demi Rakyat & Negara (GDRN) Bantu Fund. Throughout the year, Hasanah has rapidly deployed aid through humanitarian and disaster relief partners to ensure fast, targeted support as floods continue to affect parts of the country. In addition, Khazanah has increased its contributions towards humanitarian aid via Hasanah to a committed funding allocation of RM 5 million.

To date, these combined efforts have supported 18 flood relief initiatives, reaching more than 10,700 individuals and families across Kelantan, Kedah, Perlis, Perak, Pahang, Terengganu, and Selangor.

Siti Kamariah Ahmad Subki, Trustee & Managing Director at Yayasan Hasanah, said: “Our relief efforts have remained swift and efficient because Hasanah has been working proactively with our partners and key agencies, including NADMA, with ready funding allocated from Khazanah before the monsoon season began, as early as the start of 2025. This early planning allowed us to anticipate needs, pre-position aid, and procure essential items—such as Ready-to-Eat meals, medical aid, and comfort kits that are critical in the first 48 hours for affected families.

Beyond the emergency phase, our focus is equally on supporting families through post-flood recovery, ensuring they can return to homes and communities that are safe, clean, and dignified.”

Aid provided includes: Ready-to-Eat (RTE) meals, hygiene kits, cleaning kits, comfort kits, boat fuel support, medical support, and emergency kits. These interventions cover both the critical first 48 hours and the ongoing post-flood recovery to ensure safe and dignified living conditions. Relief efforts were executed through experienced partners including HALUAN, BBNGO, IMARET, HARAP Kuantan, Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia, NADIM, Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA), and various community organisations that also extend aid to affected Orang Asli villages and rural settlements.

The Northeast Monsoon, which began on 13 November 2025, has brought heavy rainfall across Malaysia over the past months.

In anticipation of ongoing risks, Yayasan Hasanah’s Humanitarian & Disaster Relief (HDR) team has been coordinating closely with authorities and with selected partner NGOs to strengthen preparedness for a potential next wave of flooding.

“We are deeply grateful to all frontliners, volunteers, and partners on the ground who brave the floods—day and night—to ensure that aid reaches affected families by any means necessary. Their courage and resolve ensure that help arrives when it matters most. We keep all impacted communities in our prayers, and as the monsoon season continues, Hasanah remains firmly committed to standing with them and sustaining support for whatever lies ahead,” said Siti Kamariah.
